Brandon Marshall and Steve Smith Fantasy Impact

The NFL Network has just reported that Brandon Marshall will be suspended for the first three games of the upcoming season due to drunk driving and domestic abuse arrests. Marshall had a breakthrough year last year catching 7 TD's and over 1,300 yards receiving.

Now for the fantasy spin. This news will obviously do nothing but hurt Marshall's draft status but if your savvy enough you could pick the likes of Steve Smith and Marshall probably around the 4th and fifth rounds now while focusing on other needs early in the draft.

Take this scenario as an example. Lets assume that without the suspension, Smith was a second round pick. With the two game suspension sure you loose him for three weeks (count the bye) during the season but you could very easily take someone like N. Burleson in the 8 round who would be a viable replacement for Smith for a couple of weeks and instead of taking Smith in the second you could now focus on a top QB or RB knowing that Smith will last longer. The same could be said for B. Marshall. I look at the news of their suspensions as an opportunity to take advantage of some opportunities that will come up on draft day and you should to.
